Job Description:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for continuously seeking improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency while ensuring that Food Safety & Quality (FS&Q) programs, policies, and procedures are effectively implemented and monitored. This role involves developing a high-performing team of quality assurance technicians, fostering a strong food safety and quality culture, and prioritizing tasks based on criticality to not only meet but exceed internal and customer expectations in a fast-paced environment.
This position reports to the QA Manager. This opening is for a 2nd Shift position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of a high-performing team of Quality Assurance (QA) technicians through training, goal setting, and performance management.
- Monitor and verify the implementation and effectiveness of Food Safety and Quality systems, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct internal audits, manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and facilitate external audits and inspections.
- Oversee daily FS&Q checks, manage product holds, and determine dispositions based on quality analysis.
- Support cross-functional teams, including R&D and production, on special projects and process improvements.
- Oversee the calibration of equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements and ensure certifications and related training are completed on time.
- Partner with production and management teams to implement quality initiatives and resolve issues effectively.
- Serve as the primary liaison with third-party providers for pest control, chemical supplies, and microbiological labs.
- Directly manage a team of QA technicians, fostering professional growth and accountability.
In addition to the specific duties outlined, you may be required to perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by your manager. These tasks will be relevant to your role and within the scope of your area of expertise.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, life sciences or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in Quality Assurance within a food manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in quality or food safety management (e.g., HACCP, SQF).
- Experience with quality management systems and process improvement methodologies.

- Ability to multitask and have excellent time management skills
- Have flexibility when new priorities arise and have a depth of knowledge in quality
- Effective verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation communications skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and systems
- Ability to create work documents, identify trends and configuring metrics
- Thorough understanding of GMP, SOP’s, FDA regulations
- Must work on “process level” and eventually “organizational level.”

- Ability to remove required good manufacturing process equipment upon exiting plant floor.
- Perform appropriate hand sanitation requirements
