SMG seeks a local Safety Advisor - Owner's Rep in the Indianapolis, IN area. The schedule for this position is Monday through Saturday, 10 hours a week. 


The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change.


Overview of Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide HSE field support and oversight for contractors performing construction and operational work.
  • Conduct safety observations and communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to project stakeholders.
  • Perform and document contractor performance evaluations to verify compliance with HSE requirements and project-specific safety plans.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project teams and contractors on field safety matters.
  • Participate in HSE pre-planning meetings to identify hazards and ensure effective risk controls are in place.
  • Support incident investigations and corrective action efforts.
  • Provide guidance on OSHA regulations and industry safety standards for construction and general industry environments. 
  • Provide guidance on environmental aspects such as waste management, hazardous materials management, etc.
Requirements

 

  • 5+ years of HSE safety experience
  • Knowledgeable in both construction and general industry safety
  • A degree in Safety or related fields is preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour 
  • Experience representing owners on a project
  • Ability to work weekends if needed

Physical Demands of the job may include:

  • Moving long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
