The TownePlace Suites Kansas City at Briarcliff, a 94 room Marriott hotel, has the position of Assistant General Manager available for a person with a strong background in hotel operations.
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for coordinating all hotel operations as directed and provides direct support to the General Manager. An ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of hotel operations and a positive attitude. Must be able to train and motivate associates to perform to the best of their abilities in order to exceed all brand and company requirements.

Job Functions
- Assigns duties to staff and observes performance to ensure adherence to hotel policies and established operating procedures
- Provides training to staff
- Selects or assists in the hiring of hotel staff and completes new hire paperwork
- Supports team members to ensure their daily workload is attainable and completed by end of shift
- Assists with employee scheduling and timecard maintenance
- Reviews employee performance and assists in conducting personnel actions such as disciplinary actions and terminations
- Assists in maintaining accurate records including, but not limited to; cash flow sheet, direct bill accounts, credit card receipts, registration cards, reservations cards, tips and gratuities, and credit cards
- Conducts or assists in conducting department meetings
- Adheres to all franchise and company procedures
- Assists in resolving guest complaints and employee issues
- Covers shifts in all departments as scheduled by the General Manager
- Performs functions of the General Manager in their absence
- All other duties as assigned

- Will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work flexible hours as required. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and managers may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work as based on business requirements.
- Carry out all reasonable requests by team leaders and managers and act as a team player with all levels of staff.
- Comply with hotel and/or department uniform and professional behavior and appearance standards.
Education and Experience
- Hotel Management, General Business or Marketing degree preferred but not required.
- At least 4 years of hotel or management experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Must be willing to complete a background check in accordance with federal and state laws
