LMS Systems Manager - Moodle
The Systems Manager/Analyst for the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) is responsible for the analysis, configuration, optimization, and support of the institution’s Moodle environment. This role partners with faculty, instructional designers, and IT staff to ensure the LMS effectively supports teaching, learning, and administrative functions.The analyst will lead system enhancements, integrations, reporting, and performance tuning while ensuring a secure, scalable, and user-friendly experience for all stakeholders.
Essential Job Duties and Functions System Administration & Support
- Administer, configure, and maintain the Moodle LMS environment
- Monitor system performance, uptime, and reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to LMS functionality
- Manage user roles, permissions, and course structures
Business & Systems Analysis
- Gather and document functional and technical requirements from stakeholders
- Analyze business processes and recommend LMS-based solutions
- Translate academic and administrative needs into system configurations
Integration & Development
- Support integration between Moodle and enterprise systems (e.g., SIS, authentication systems, third-party tools)
- Collaborate with developers on custom plugins, APIs, and automation
- Manage updates, patches, and version upgrades
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop and maintain LMS reports and dashboards
- Support data analysis related to student engagement, retention, and course effectiveness
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with institutional policies
Training & Documentation
- Provide training and support to faculty and staff on Moodle features and best practices
- Create and maintain user guides, documentation, and knowledge base articles
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience supporting or administering a Learning Management System (preferably Moodle)
- Experience with systems analysis, requirements gathering, and documentation
- Knowledge of SQL, data reporting tools, and system integrations
- Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
