The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the experience program for students with disabilities in accordance with state regulations.


Responsibilities include:


  • Implement and oversee the WBL experience program for students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor to improve curriculum design, material selection, and sequencing of WBL, Community-Based Instruction (CBI), and transition services.
  • Plan and make placement decisions, design WBI schedules, outline bus routes and transportation options, assign job coaches, and develop student training plans and business/agency agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with NJDOE requirements for community-based WBL activities.
  • Provide supervision and support to students in community-based job sites, including on-site job assessments, skills training, and job coaching.
  • Collaborate with various departments to coordinate individual students’ transition needs.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and transition planning for students participating in the Transition Program.
  • Implement and manage the behavior modification program, including maintaining tokens for each student during the class day.
  • Develop effective relationships with community employers willing to participate in the WBL program.
  • Collaborate with bus drivers to ensure effective transportation of students, including setting up RideShare for students when needed.
  • Ensure incorporation and implementation of each student’s IEP in the WBL program.
  • Develop and enforce behavior modification programs in conjunction with job coaches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    



Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.
  • New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities or Teacher of the Handicapped and Work-Based Learning Coordinator certificates required.
  • Experience in the same or similar position in the special education field.
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to support student learning and transition needs.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with community partners.
  • Familiarity with NJDOE regulations related to work-based learning programs.
