The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) is seeking a friendly, organized, and compassionate Temporary Bilingual Receptionist to support our Immigration Legal Services team in Stamford. As the first point of contact for clients and visitors, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for individuals seeking immigration legal services.

This is a temporary position expected to end on September 30, 2026. The selected candidate will complete three days of paid training in our Bridgeport office before beginning work in Stamford.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and respect.
  • Maintain appointment calendars for Immigration Legal Services staff by scheduling, confirming, and coordinating appointments.
  • Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system, directing calls appropriately and responding to general inquiries.
  • Take accurate messages and relay them promptly to the appropriate staff.
  • Provide courteous assistance to clients, visitors, and members of the public.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Assist with general administrative and clerical support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of general office or administrative experience.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required.
  • Professional, friendly, and customer-service-oriented demeanor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, records management, and administrative practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.

  • Assignment: This is a temporary position expected to end on September 30, 2026. Continued employment beyond this date is not anticipated.
