Summary:
Assist in implementing the safety programs at the plant to preserve employee health and safety, to reduce workplace incidents, and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist in implementing the plant's safety program.
· Demonstrate a commitment to a safe working environment that promotes employee health and well-being.
· Participate in safety committee efforts, be active in meetings, and provide follow-up.
· Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety assessments and prepare action plans.
· Review safety policies and procedures with department managers.
· Develop and implement property loss prevention plans.
· Help in creating and maintaining lockout / tagout placards.
· Lead and implement 5S at the facility.
· Aid with safety improvement projects and implement corrective actions.
· Use provided tools such as a computer and phone to fulfill responsibilities.
· Action duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Safety Manager.
· Travel and/or extended or off-work hours may be needed.
· Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential duties and responsibilities.
Education & Experience:
· 3+ years of experience in the safety field, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
· Certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or a similar area is preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or a related field is preferred.
Specialized Knowledge:
· Regulatory compliance: Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.
· Ability in developing, implementing, and supporting safety programs.
· Knowledge of emergency response procedures and crisis management.
· Property loss prevention.
· 5S Lean methodology.
· Lockout / tagout.
· Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
Skills & Abilities:
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy; dependable and able to work well in a team environment.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· Awareness of industrial hygiene principles.
· Familiarity with equipment and tools relevant to safety inspections and assessments.
· Bilingual skills are helpful (Spanish, Arabic).
