Description
PURPOSE STATEMENT
Performs mammography exams as directed by physicians (le: screening and diagnostic mammograms, needle localizations).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform mammographic exams on patients as ordered by physicians. Selects appropriate techniques to achieve desired quality of completed exam.
- Assist Radiologist with needle localizations assuring all necessary records, consents, and supplies are available.
- Schedule patients for mammograms when needed. Schedule follow-up exams as needed.
- Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Maintain required departmental records (patient/other), reports and files for governmental agency compliance. Adheres to MQSA policies and procedures. Assists with inspections.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Keep work area clean.
- Perform informational seminars whenever possible.
- Enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
- Send for outside films for comparisons.
- Attend services and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required.
- Perform duties of Radiology Technologist as needed.
- Able to send and retrieve images from both cloud systems.
- Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
- Registry with the ARRT in Radiology required.
- Registry in Mammography preferred.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
