Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Technician to design, implement, and support industrial control systems across manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for PLC programming, industrial networking, database integration, and troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The ideal candidate is self-driven, technically versatile, and capable of working independently to improve and maintain production processes.


  

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs from the ground up using Allen-Bradley platforms (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500) 
  • Configure and troubleshoot OPC communications for seamless data exchange between industrial devices and software systems 
  • Develop and manage SQL databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) for data collection, storage, and analysis 
  • Perform PLC diagnostics and system troubleshooting to minimize downtime and improve machine performance 
  • Maintain industrial network infrastructure, including: 
    • Static IP address assignment 
    • NAT configuration 
    • Firewall rule implementation 
    • Plant network architecture 
  • Develop and maintain HMI applications using Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View and AutomationDirect C-More 
  • Implement and validate machine safety systems in accordance with ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012 standards 
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems 
  • Interpret technical documentation and utilize manufacturer resources for troubleshooting and system design 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains 
  • Support commissioning, startup, and continuous improvement initiatives 
Requirements

  

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently 
  • Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500) 
  • Experience with HMI development (FactoryTalk View, C-More) 
  • Solid understanding of industrial networking concepts (Ethernet/IP, IP addressing, NAT, firewalls) 

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of machine safety standards (ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012 or similar) 
  • Hands-on experience with OPC protocols and industrial communications 
  • Proficiency with SQL databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) 
  • Experience with data acquisition and analytics systems 
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and IIoT integrations 
  • Experience working in manufacturing or production environments 
  • Understanding of version control and structured programming practices

Work Environment

  • Monday – Friday 7:00 – 4:00, Flexible
  • Up to 30% travel required during the first 6 months for de-commissioning purchased equipment. Primarily onsite role after initial 6 months, with minimal travel required
