What We Seek...
We are looking for a career-minded Industrial Designer to develop innovative designs to support our diverse product offerings. The Industrial Designer will work independently and as a member of the team, developing designs from concept to reality. Additionally, the Industrial Designer will provide design leadership to the organization and its subsidiaries.
This position requires a detail-oriented and creative individual. The work involves adapting proven products to new projects and developing new solutions where needed. There is a focus on self-direction, freedom of ideas, and creative solutions.
The Industrial Designer position will be rewarding to someone with an aptitude for creativity, leadership and a resourceful mindset. The right candidate will have a professional demeanor and make sound, well thought-out decisions to ensure internal and external client needs are met.
Job Summary and Job Functions
- Consistently and efficiently developed innovative designs and processes to support the growth of the organization
- Provide design leadership to the organization and its subsidiaries
- Manages the design aspects of a project from start to finish
- Designs client solutions using all Britten product lines to support a wide range of clients, events, and complex projects
- Creates 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings to support the manufacture of products
- Masters Britten Inc software systems, processes and procedures quickly, and consistently shares ideas for improvement
- Continuously seeks out ways to increase the profitability of the organization
- Maintains a high level of respect and communication with internal and external clients
- Has an intimate knowledge of their projects throughout all stages of planning and production
- Utilizes current industry trends, materials, and technologies to provide the client with creative solutions
- Designs themed and branded environments, exhibits, and event activations for the Scenic division
- Produces fabrication-ready shop drawings that translate concept designs into buildable scenic elements
- Collaborates directly with the Scenic fabrication team to ensure designs are constructible and cost-effective
- Supports site surveys, installations, and on-site problem-solving at event and exhibit locations

- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design preferred or Bachelor's Degree in related engineering or design fields considered with appropriate experience
- Proficient using Rhino and Microsoft Office Products; proficiency in Inventor Pro strongly preferred
- Experience in other CAD software strongly considered
- Proficiency in CAM software and manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC programming and toolpath generation) strongly preferred
- Fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction experience preferred; background in theatrical scenic design, exhibit design, or museum fabrication a plus, along with working knowledge of materials such as steel, wood, foam, and paint/finish systems
- Sees challenges as opportunities and enjoys discovering solutions to overcome them

Physical Demands and Work Environment
