Landfill Transfer Station Operator
Starting Salary: $18.46 - $20.77 per hour DOQ

The Position
This position performs a variety of general labor duties and operates equipment related to solid waste collection and landfill operation. The selected individual will operate scales, collect fees and direct customers to the appropriate area of disposal sites. The individual will also safely operate compactors compressing debris deposited by users of the transfer station.
Location and Hours
This position is located at the Alliance Landfill at 1441 E. Kansas Street. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a Saturday rotation.

This position is full-time and benefit-earning. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance as well as leave accrual, holiday pay and participation in a matching retirement plan. Employees also receive 3 floating holidays per year. Qualifying employees enrolled in the medical plan are also eligible for up to $1680/year in City HSA contributions. In this Position You Will
· Provide service to customers, ensuring their needs are met and questions answered.
· Screen loads to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
· Maintain accurate cash till; ensure accuracy in reporting.
· Run, maintain, and assist in repairing baler and ensure safe operation of equipment.
Need to Have
· Graduated high school or received GED; and
· Working knowledge of mechanics and equipment operation; and
· Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting 75 pounds regularly.
Special Requirements
The work environment includes exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, chemicals and mechanical hazards and is usually loud. The successful applicant must have a safe driving history and possess a Class B CDL or have the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment. This is a DOT covered position and complies with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol testing requirements.
