Job Type: Full-Time

Shift / Schedule: Four-week rotating schedule; Every other weekend plus additional weekdays off


About the Role

We are seeking a precise, dedicated, and highly skilled Licensed Embalmer to focus primarily on technical work in the preparation room and back-of-house logistics.

In this role, you will play a vital behind-the-scenes part in serving our families by ensuring every decedent is cared for with the highest level of dignity, reverence, and technical excellence. This is a primarily back-of-house position with limited funeral arrangement or service-directing responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Embalming & Preparation: Evaluate conditions, determine protocols, and perform high-standard embalming, bathing, feature setting, shaving, and restorative art procedures.
  • Dressing & Cosmetology: Execute final preparation, dressing, cosmetology, and casketing of the deceased to exact family expectations and professional standards.
  • Removals & First Calls: Respond to removal assignments as needed; safely transport deceased individuals from residences, medical facilities, and institutions back to the care facility.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, DHEC, and company health/safety standards. 
  • Sanitation & Maintenance: Maintain pristine sanitation standards across all preparation rooms, equipment, and work areas. Ensure hazardous materials are handled and disposed of per biohazard guidelines.
  • Documentation: Complete precise Embalming Case Reports, body instruction sheets, and identification tracking (ankle bracelets) immediately following care.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Physical Effort: Ability to frequently lift/carry up to 100 lbs and push/pull up to 300 lbs with assistance/equipment.
  • Environment: Comfortable working in a technical clinical environment with regular exposure to biological materials, chemical solutions, and protective equipment.
  • Stamina:  Ability to handle tasks requiring standing, reaching, bending, and fine manual dexterity for extended periods.

Requirements

 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Licensure: Valid South Carolina Embalmer License (or ability to reciprocate).
  • Driver’s License: Valid Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.
  • Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication for coordinating with internal care teams, coroners, and facility staff.
  • Ethical Commitment: Absolute commitment to confidentiality, moral standards, and treating all decedents with deep respect and reverence.
