Position Overview

Sun-Maid Growers of California is seeking an experienced Journeyman Packaging Mechanic to support high-speed packaging equipment, conveyors, packaging robots, baggers, case packers, and palletizing equipment in the Packaging Department.

Work Environment

Candidates must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment and perform duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment issues during line calls and take appropriate corrective action.

• Request assistance when needed in a timely manner.

• Assist with overhauling, rebuilding, and maintaining equipment.

• Perform fabrication work as assigned.

• Operate and maintain equipment properly by following instructions and established procedures.

• Assist with all phases of maintenance, including fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventive maintenance.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of training or experience working with packaging equipment (tape machine, case former, case sealer, baggers, palletizer, conveyors, scales, pneumatics, etc.).

• Experience trouble shooting mechanical drive systems (motors, servos, gearboxes, etc.)

• Follow Directions both verbal and written.

• Follow Lockout/tag out procedures, all OSHA and company policies and best practices.

• Must have basic mechanical skills, and the ability to work with basic hand tools.

• Be able to read and understand basic blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals

• Learn to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment

• Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Good mathematical skills.

• Ability and desire to work up to higher level maintenance position.
