Description
Position Purpose:
The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for planning and leading engaging pickleball lessons for participants of all ages and skill levels in a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. This position provides quality instruction focused on skill development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment while promoting Family Wellness programs and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.
Job Specific Competencies:
- Demonstrates a strong knowledge of Family Wellness programs, services, policies, and pickleball instruction.
- Maintains a positive, professional attitude while creating a fun and welcoming learning environment.
- Plans and leads engaging pickleball lessons for participants of various ages and skill levels.
- Teaches proper pickleball fundamentals, rules, techniques, and sportsmanship through safe and effective instruction.
- Provides encouragement, constructive feedback, and individualized instruction to help participants develop their skills.
- Creates an inclusive environment that promotes confidence, participation, and enjoyment for all participants.
- Sets up and tears down pickleball courts, nets, equipment, and instructional materials before and after each class.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized instructional area by inspecting equipment and reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
- Responds appropriately to emergencies by following Family Wellness safety procedures and notifying the appropriate supervisor or emergency personnel.
- Assists with pickleball leagues, clinics, tournaments, and special events as assigned.
- Supports fellow staff members and contributes to a positive, welcoming experience for all Family Wellness members and guests.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience playing pickleball required.
- Previous experience coaching, teaching, or instructing pickleball or another sport preferred.
- Experience working with children, adults, or groups in a recreational, educational, or athletic setting preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.
- Strong communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including setup, takedown, and light cleaning.
Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
