ALEX – Alternative Experts, LLC is seeking a Senior Data Scientist with specific expertise supporting criminal investigation and financial fraud or abuse. The Data Analytics Support will include designing, implementing, and maintaining fraud identification methods and communicating results to relevant stakeholders. This work will include data cleaning to ensure validity, completeness, and consistency; developing repeatable methods to efficiently analyze large datasets; working closely with criminal investigators to determine appropriate analytical strategies; developing and maintaining both unsupervised and supervised models, including the use of regression, Bayesian, clustering, and ensemble algorithms; implementing and tuning test models to determine best fit.
Five (5) or more years of hands-on experience in each of the following:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced AI systems and predictive models, including both supervised and unsupervised models.
- Developing analytic rules and models using leading edge analytic tools and best practices.
- Developing regression, classification, and other statistical models to identify anomalies, patterns, and predictive variables.
Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience in each of the following:
- Providing data support for criminal investigations into financial fraud or abuse of government funds.
- Manipulating data in Python. (Pandas required.)
- Working in the modern cloud environment (Azure/AWS/GCP). Certifications preferred.
Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience in each of the following:
- Conducting advanced data analysis in SQL (SQL Server and PostgreSQL).
- Developing and scaling NLP solutions.
- Presenting methods and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders, orally and in written products/visualizations.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Azure Data Scientist Associate (DP-100)
- Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)
- AWS Machine Learning Certification
- Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer
- Comparable cloud-based AI/ML certifications
Education and Certifications:
- Masters, Ph. D., or doctorate-level equivalent degree in data science, machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or a related field;
- OR 10 years of applied work experience in any of the same fields.
- U.S. Citizenship Required.

In order to comply with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we reasonably believe the pay range for this position is between
$125,000 - $140,000. Actual compensation within the posted range will be determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
