About Acumen
At Acumen Fiscal Agent, we help people live more independently. We partner with state governments, health plans, and community programs to administer self-directed care programs—enabling individuals with disabilities, aging adults, and veterans to hire and manage their own caregivers while remaining in their homes and communities.
Our operations span payroll, tax compliance, enrollment, customer service, financial operations, and electronic visit verification. As a mid-sized organization, we value practical problem-solving, ownership, and the ability to make progress without layers of support
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager who can independently lead complex, cross-functional business and technology initiatives and contribute to the growth of our PMO. You will work directly with leaders across Operations, Product, Technology, Customer Service, Finance, Training, and Compliance to turn business needs into successful changes in how we operate.
An early focus will include future phases and enhancements of our enterprise Zendesk customer-service platform, alongside other high-priority transformation initiatives. You will lead work through planning, execution, adoption, stabilization, and business handoff. This is a hands-on delivery role—not solely project tracking, and not a people-management position
What You’ll Do - Own Complex Projects End to End
- Clarify business goals, scope, measures of success, ownership, dependencies, and the decisions required for delivery
- Build right-sized delivery plans, manage budgets and resources, and lead business, technical, vendor, and operational workstreams
- Take ownership of in-flight or ambiguous projects, surface barriers early, and drive action and accountability without daily direction
Deliver Business and Technology Change
- Lead enterprise SaaS, workflow, process improvement, and business transformation initiatives from requirements through rollout and adoption
- Partner across configuration, integrations, data, UAT, defect management, cutover, training, communications, hypercare, and operational handoff
- Ensure solutions work for business users, process owners, customers, and downstream operations—not just the technical team
Drive Decisions, Risk Management, and Executive Alignment
- Facilitate focused discussions, resolve competing priorities, influence without authority, and translate complexity into decisions
- Maintain accurate, useful plans, RAID logs, and executive updates with clear impacts, choices, recommendations, and ownership
- Use sound judgment to solve problems independently and escalate promptly when decisions or trade-offs require leadership
Help Strengthen the PMO
- Model practical governance and repeatable delivery practices without creating unnecessary process
- Identify improvements to portfolio reporting, project templates, resource coordination, readiness, and lessons learned
- Share knowledge and mentor peers; bring curiosity and interest in expanding leadership responsibilities over time
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated success personally leading complex, cross-functional projects through launch and transition to operations; progressive experience in project/program management or related business transformation roles
- Experience delivering enterprise technology or workflow implementations that materially change business processes, team responsibilities, or customer/employee experience
- Strong execution fundamentals: scope and schedule, dependencies, risk and issue management, vendor coordination, financial/resource awareness, and stakeholder accountability
- Ability to work across technical and nontechnical groups and confidently partner with senior leaders in an evolving, resource-conscious environment
- Evidence of practical judgment, initiative, influence, clear communication, and outcome-driven problem-solving
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a PMO or structured delivery organization, including contributions to governance or project delivery improvement
- Background in business operations, process improvement, business analysis, product delivery, customer service, or organizational transformation in addition to PM responsibilities
- Experience with Zendesk or another CRM, service management, contact-center, or enterprise SaaS/workflow platform
- Hands-on familiarity with integration/data migration, UAT, go-live readiness, change management, adoption, and post-launch stabilization
- Experience supporting regulated service environments, including healthcare, human services, government programs, or financial operations
- PMP, PgMP, or comparable certification; familiarity with Monday.com, Microsoft Project/Planner, Jira, or similar tools
- Experience coaching teammates, influencing delivery standards, and supporting process or PMO maturity
What Success Looks Like
- Projects make measurable progress with clear priorities, active risk management, and timely decisions—even when the path forward is initially unclear
- Business partners trust your judgment and experience consistent follow-through, ownership, and transparent communication
- Deployments are operationally ready, adopted by users, and successfully transitioned to accountable business owners
- The PMO becomes more effective through practical improvements and knowledge sharing
Why This Role
You will own meaningful enterprise work with direct access to decisionmakers and visible impact on services that help people live independently. You will also have the opportunity to broaden your influence and develop as a PMO leader over time. Advancement is based on business needs and performance, not guaranteed.
