Pay varies by position and is based on multiple factors including labor market data and, depending on position, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and/or certifications. Additionally, Sportech takes into account the internal equity of current employees when considering compensation. Sportech’s reasonable and good-faith estimate for new hire compensation at the time of posting for this position is $28.50 - $33.50 per hour. Pay may also include variable compensation from time to time such as overtime for non-exempt positions, shift differential for specific shifts, and/or bonus targets (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).


Job Summary

The Safety Technician is responsible for executing and sustaining safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and drive a culture of safety across all Sportech operations. This role includes day-to-day administration, auditing, and continuous improvement of EHS processes, with a strong focus on visibility, accountability, and measurable results.


Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with all departments (operations, warehouse, HR, facilities, etc.) to drive improvements in all EHS programs
  • Own execution of core EHS compliance programs (LOTO, PIT, PPE, fall protection, ladders, eyewash, hoists, heat stress, etc.)
  • Ensure 100% completion and documentation of required inspections and audits on defined cadence
  • Maintain audit readiness by keeping all compliance records current, accurate, and accessible
  • Lead or support incident investigations within 24 hours of occurrence
  • Ensure root cause analysis is documented and corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and closed
  • Partner with operations to implement preventive actions that eliminate repeat incidents
  • Conduct routine safety walks and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) across value streams
  • Track and close identified hazards within agreed timelines
  • Drive visible risk reduction actions in partnership with production leadership
  • Own SDS system accuracy and chemical compliance (labeling, storage, usage)
  • Maintain all required EHS tracking systems (inspections, training, exposure monitoring, etc.)
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry (including any habit tracker or internal system)
  • Coordinate and support delivery of required safety training for all employees
  • Ensure all EHS postings (alerts, metrics, training notices) are current at tier boards and work areas
  • Communicate effectively across all levels (operators, leadership, temporary staff, vendors)
  • Support environmental programs including sampling, noise monitoring, and exposure tracking
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and communication materials
  • Maintain visibility and accuracy of evacuation maps, procedures, and emergency postings
  • Lead or support EHS improvement projects with defined scope, timeline, and measurable outcomes
Requirements
  • Associate degree in safety, environmental health, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ year experience in an EHS or manufacturing environment preferred
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification required within three (3) months of hire if not already obtained
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
  • Effective time management and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to communicate and influence across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and office environments for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs or ladders while conducting inspections and audits
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment for documentation, reporting, and data entry
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environments with varying noise levels, temperatures, and other industrial conditions while wearing required PPE
  • Ability to visually observe work areas, equipment, and safety conditions and communicate effectively with employees throughout the facility
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and travel throughout the facility as needed
