We are looking for a Production Shift Lead to manage and lead all activities associated with scheduling and production at our Detroit location. The incumbent will have overall responsibility for ensuring our products are produced, packaged, warehoused, and delivered safely.
Accountabilities:
- Manage activities associated with scheduling and production in both the Extrusion and Expansion Departments. This person will have overall responsibility for ensuring our products are produced, packaged, warehoused, and delivered on time.
- Lead/Coach/Mentor subordinates, to include determining manpower requirements and training needs; prioritizing and delegating work assignments; and providing day-to-day direction, including corrective action and performance feedback.
- Manage inventory of raw materials needed for production. Order to established minimums to ensure production flow is uninterrupted. Work with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the correct inventory of raw materials as production demands change.
- Analyze production and quality data; make recommendations for continuous improvement of the production processes. Work closely with Engineering and Maintenance to determine best practices and develop continuous improvement efforts.
- Report/Document all scheduling, production, and quality activities, ensuring QAD business system is accurate to production documentation.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary reviews of manufacturing processes, make recommendations to management for improvements to those processes and determine the need for new equipment.
- Act as a liaison between manufacturing and Human Resources Manager to ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations, including mandatory OSHA safety training and housekeeping. This is measured by safety records. Ensure compliance of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or related field or combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years’ experience in a plant manufacturing environment
- 3+ years’ experience working under a Collective Bargaining Agreement
- 3+ years’ experience with plastic extrusion and/or expansion processes
- 3+ years’ experience in leading problem solving teams, conflict management and negotiation.
- 3+ years’ of supervisory, leadership or mentoring experience in a plant environment with both hourly and salary employees
