Position Summary:
Reporting to the Global Director of Stainless Steel & Hybrid Equipment Product Management, the Product Engineer will support the development and execution of product portfolio initiatives designed to improve ABEC's market position, product competitiveness, pricing effectiveness, and profitability.
The Product Engineer will work closely with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Applications teams to evaluate market opportunities, analyze competitive offerings, identify cost-reduction initiatives, and support the development and enhancement of products that meet customer needs and business objectives.
The successful candidate will combine technical aptitude with strong analytical and communication skills to help guide product decisions that improve customer value, revenue growth, and margin performance.
Responsibilities:
Market & Competitive Analysis
- Research and analyze industry trends, customer requirements, and competitive products to identify opportunities for product improvement and business growth.
- Monitor competitor technologies, product capabilities, and pricing strategies to assess ABEC's competitive position.
- Support market assessments and business cases for new products, feature enhancements, and portfolio investments.
- Gather and organize customer, sales, and field-service feedback to identify unmet needs and emerging market requirements.
Product Management Support
- Partner with Product Managers in defining product requirements, value propositions, and product roadmaps.
- Support the evaluation, development, and launch of new products and product enhancements.
- Assist in developing product documentation, training materials, and internal product communications.
- Track and report on product performance, market adoption, and competitive positioning.
Cost & Profitability Improvement
- Analyze product costs and collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Support initiatives focused on improving product margins while maintaining customer value and product quality.
- Assist with pricing analysis, competitive benchmarking, and profitability assessments.
- Participate in value engineering initiatives that improve both cost competitiveness and product performance.
Product Validation & Technical Support
- Participate in product testing, evaluation, and validation activities to verify performance and support product improvements.
- Assist in creating test plans, protocols, and reports in accordance with ABEC standards.
- Support engineering teams in resolving product-related technical issues and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide product-related support to Process Sciences, Sales, Applications, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Project teams.
Continuous Improvement
- Actively identify and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities within products, processes, and business operations.
- Support Lean and process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while meeting project deadlines and business objectives.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 0-3 years of engineering, product management, business analysis, manufacturing, or related experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to evaluate technical and business information and develop actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other standard business tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- Experience with product development, manufacturing, process engineering, or product management activities.
- Exposure to market analysis, competitor research, pricing analysis, or business case development.
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or industrial equipment industries.
