Description

Job Summary: Working as part of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Assistant (HRA) is responsible for providing general clerical and administrative support for the human resources department as directed by the Director of Human Resources. Provide relief coverage for the Front Desk, manage the volunteer/intern program, support recruitment activities, and assist in coordinating the HR driving activities and events.


Essential Functions:

  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of position related to personnel information and communications associated with the work performed.
  • Trained and responsible to process payroll when necessary.
  • Assist with onboarding meetings with all newly hired staff members.
  • Coordinate aspects of the volunteer/intern program.  
  • Monitor and assist with identifying program needs for volunteers and recruiting when necessary.
  • Reviewing resumes and connecting individuals with the right opportunity.
  • Onboarding all volunteers/interns working on site, orientating those working onsite and reviewing paperwork. 
  • Track and maintain records of volunteer/intern hours.
  • When necessary, support volunteer needs of programs for single-day events assisting with providing either links or paperwork needing to be signed and completed.
  • Attend community service and/or job recruitment events held in the Fresno Community.
  • Support the Director of HR to coordinate all HR driving activities and events.
  • Assist and support with yearly open enrollment activities.
  • Assist in the preparation and support the needs associated with the delivery of the Quarterly New Hire Orientation, CPR/First Aid, and various Supervisory training sessions.
  • Maintain records and manage the assignment of various company owned equipment issued to staff members.
  • Assist with issuing staff badges and tags for laptop cases.
  • Provide support and relief to the main receptionist, this would include but not limited to greeting visitor and families, answering and routing of incoming phone calls in a friendly and professional manner. 
  • Adhere to EPU standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain, manage, and process records and information in a confidential manner that meets HIPAA and other applicable confidentiality regulations. 
  • Maintain and update all HR communications sources such as bulletin boards and electronic sources.
  • Responsible for the personnel file maintenance.
  • Based on the clientele served here at EPU, and being the backup to the receptionist, the position requires the ability to communicate in Spanish.
  • EPU facility hours are Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM; with some exceptions based on business needs. Positions hours may vary depending upon the needs of the business.
  • Must hold valid California Driver's license and good driving record with no serious violations for the previous two-year period and be able to provide proof of current automobile liability insurance for local travel as needed.
  • Must perform other duties as they are assigned by the Director of Human Resources or President/Chief Executive Officer.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent with specialized course work in general office and human resources. Prefer an Associates or Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Human Resources. SHRM-CP and/or PHR encouraged.


Skills: Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal, able to make independent decisions within guidelines, accept responsibility, dependable, reliable, time management, committed, highly motivated, professional code of ethics and professional demeanor, must be adaptable, use good judgement, logic skills, are self-confident, capable.  


Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience general office/clerical experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of human resources performed but not required.
  • Accurate data enter at the rate of 40 WPM or 11000 KPH.
  • Computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft Office products.  
  • Must hold valid California Driver's license and good driving record with no serious violations for the previous two-year period and be able to provide proof of current automobile liability insurance.
  • Bi-lingual skills in Spanish preferred but not required.

Physical Demands:

Typical Working Condition: Position works the majority of the time at the EPU facility. The position requires the ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time. Position requires fingering (fine dexterity), repetitive hand and wrist motions.  


Equipment Used: Computers, printers, telephones and other various office equipment. Requires operation of a vehicle for local travel on occasion

Essential Physical Tasks: Must be able to sit for long periods of time, working with a keyboard, computer screen.

Salary Description
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour DOE
