Description

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting faith formation opportunities for high school youth while fostering their spiritual growth and active participation in parish life. This position works collaboratively with the Parish Catechetical Leader (PCL), volunteers, parents, and parish staff to provide engaging catechetical, sacramental, and ministry experiences for young people.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement faith formation and sacramental preparation programs, including Confirmation preparation, for youth in grades 9–12.
  • Assist the Parish Catechetical Leader (PCL) with faith formation programs for youth in grades 7–8.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support catechists and volunteers involved in youth ministry.
  • Organize youth events, retreats, service projects, social activities, outreach opportunities, and ministry experiences that encourage participation in parish life.
  • Collaborate with the PCL to oversee catechetical programs for older baptized children and teens preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation, including First Penance, First Communion, and Confirmation.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, catechists, volunteers, parish staff, and parishioners.
  • Ensure compliance with all Diocese of Beaumont Safe Environment policies and procedures by catechists, volunteers, and participants.
  • Adhere to all Diocese of Beaumont social media policies and guidelines.
  • Prepare content for parish communications, including bulletin announcements, promotional materials, website updates, and social media posts.
  • Ensure sacramental candidates have completed and submitted all required documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Parish Pastor.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Fully initiated, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions, and sacramental preparation.
  • Passion for youth ministry and evangelization.
  • Ability to engage, mentor, and inspire young people.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with parish leadership, volunteers, and families.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, email, social media, and parish communication platforms.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Compliance with Diocese of Beaumont Safe Environment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in youth ministry, religious education, catechesis, or a related field.
  • Training or certification in catechetical ministry, theology, pastoral ministry, or a related discipline.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, retreats, and youth-focused events.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to attend parish events, meetings, retreats, and activities as required.
  • Ability to lift and transport ministry materials and supplies as needed.
