Job Description:
Residential specialists are tasked with providing 24/7 support around daily living and mental health management in a community-based adult residence. The Residential specialist works to increase independence, encourage skill acquisition and utilization, help with symptom management, and maintain a clean and safe environment for the residents. You will work closely with the treatment team and community agencies to provide wrap-around support for all individuals. We strive to provide effective, evidence-based practices. The position includes day-to-day household management and transportation of residents to and from appointments, shopping, extra-curricular activities, etc. Requires the ability to form therapeutic relationships, think critically, provide interventions, and take initiative. All required training is provided through ample internal and external opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support patients in developing skills for living independently
· Assist patients with taking steps toward their wellness and recovery goals
· Support patients in the residential and community settings
· Provide safe medication support, education and self-administration
· Participate in direct 1:1 and group activities
· Help patients with room/apartment maintenance
· Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation
· Ensure effective and thorough communication with the treatment team
Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
· Excellent communication ability with co-workers, staff, clients, and community partners.
· Knowledge of mental health/therapeutic interventions
· Manage time efficiently
· Basic office skills including, answering telephones, taking messages, computer and email skills
· Ability to climb stairs and stay physically active throughout the shift
· Time management and organizational skills are a must.
· Must be Self-Motivated and Independent
Qualifications: Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with bodily injury liability coverage in the amount of at least $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology or social work required
