Journeyman Technician


About the Role

The Journeyman Technician performs skilled automotive repairs including diagnostics, mechanical system work, maintenance, and drivability repairs. This role supports shop productivity and ensures vehicles are repaired to OEM and dealership standards.


Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics and repairs.
  • Repair brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and electrical systems.
  • Complete maintenance services and component replacements.
  • Conduct drivability diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Document repair findings clearly and accurately.
  • Communicate with Advisors on additional findings or needed approvals.
  • Test-drive vehicles to validate repairs.
  • Maintain tools, shop equipment, and proper safety practices.
  • Support workflow by assisting Light Duty Technicians.
  • Meet productivity and quality targets.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with mentoring less experienced technicians.
  • Support shop operations as needed.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years automotive repair experience preferred.
  • ASE certifications preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop.

Work Environment

Indoor service shop with exposure to noise, lifts, and automotive systems.

  • Lifting 50–75 lbs
  • Extended standing
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching

Schedule

Full-time; may require Saturdays.

Salary Description
$29.00 to $55.00 hr
