Description

North Central Area Credit Union is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Loan Officer to join our Lending Center team. This role is responsible for assisting members with their lending needs, evaluating loan applications, and ensuring compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, strong financial acumen, and a commitment to helping members achieve their financial goals. A strong focus on sales and goal achievement is essential, as this position requires actively promoting loan products and meeting performance targets.


Candidate can work from: Houghton Lake, Roscommon, Grayling, Standish or Grandville.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and process loan applications, including auto, personal, home equity, and other consumer loans.
  • Conduct thorough credit analysis and assess applicants' financial status to determine loan eligibility.
  • Communicate loan decisions and provide recommendations based on credit union policies and lending guidelines.
  • Educate members on loan products, interest rates, repayment terms, and financial solutions.
  • Ensure all loan documentation is accurate and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with members by providing outstanding service and follow-up.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support lending initiatives and cross-sell credit union products.
  • Proactively seek out new lending opportunities, engage in outbound sales efforts, and meet or exceed established loan production goals.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive loan growth and member engagement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in lending.
Requirements
  • Experience in consumer lending, financial services, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of loan processing, underwriting principles, and credit union regulations.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals in a financial services environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, member-focused environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
