Technologist Assistant

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Position Summary

The Technologist Assistant (TA) plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the MRI and CT departments by ensuring efficient patient flow and delivering exceptional patient care. This position assists technologists with patient preparation, peripheral IV starts, room turnover, and other clinical support duties to help maintain an efficient workflow while providing a warm, hospitality-focused patient experience.

The ideal candidate has strong direct patient care experience, is highly skilled in starting peripheral IVs, thrives in a fast-paced outpatient imaging environment, and is committed to delivering Precision Imaging Centers' mission of Exceptional Clarity. Superior Care.

This position is ideal for former paramedics, emergency department technicians, military medics, emergency medical professionals, or other healthcare professionals with strong peripheral IV placement skills who are looking to transition into outpatient imaging while continuing to provide exceptional patient care in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support

• Welcome and escort ambulatory patients throughout their imaging visit while providing exceptional customer service.
• Prepare patients for MRI and CT examinations by reviewing instructions and ensuring they are ready for their scheduled procedure.
• Perform peripheral IV starts for contrast-enhanced imaging studies within scope of practice.
• Assist technologists with patient positioning and preparation before imaging exams.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after contrast administration as directed by the technologist.
• Communicate effectively with patients to ease anxiety and create a warm, comfortable, spa-like experience.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the imaging process.

Department Operations

• Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the MRI and CT departments.
• Prepare imaging rooms between patients, including room turnover and stocking supplies.
• Verify patient readiness and communicate delays or concerns to technologists.
• Assist with resolving workflow issues to minimize scheduling delays.
• Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming patient care areas.
• Ensure patient preparation areas remain stocked with necessary supplies.
• Assist with checking and stocking crash carts and emergency equipment according to department policy.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all MRI safety protocols and departmental procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Report safety concerns or equipment issues promptly.
• Adhere to all infection prevention and safety standards.
• Participate in department training and ongoing competency requirements.
• Respond appropriately during medical emergencies until a technologist, radiologist, or EMS assumes patient care.

• Deliver an exceptional patient experience by creating a welcoming, calm, and supportive environment.
• Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellent communication with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct patient care experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency starting peripheral IVs.
• Strong patient assessment and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient imaging environment.

Preferred

• Previous experience as a Paramedic, Emergency Department Technician, Military Medic, Radiology Assistant, Medical Assistant (with IV certification where applicable), or in another healthcare role requiring frequent peripheral IV placement.
• Experience in Radiology, MRI, CT, outpatient imaging, or another healthcare setting.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Knowledge of patient preparation for diagnostic imaging procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including preparing exam rooms and starting peripheral IVs.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform peripheral IV starts safely and efficiently.
• Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.
