Our After-School Program extends the mission of the school into the afternoon hours by providing a safe, caring, and structured environment for children after the regular school day.
Position Overview
St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School is seeking a caring, dependable, and responsible After-School Program Worker to supervise and engage students in grades Pre-K through 8 during after-school hours. The ideal candidate will help create a welcoming atmosphere, maintain order, support student safety, and model behavior consistent with the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise students during after-school program hours and ensure a safe, orderly, and caring environment.
- Support a positive atmosphere that reflects the school’s Catholic values and mission.
- Assist students with homework and provide quiet work time as needed.
- Lead or supervise age-appropriate games, crafts, and recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate attendance records for the after-school program.
- Communicate student behavior, safety concerns, or parent questions to the program coordinator or principal.
- Follow dismissal procedures, including releasing students only to authorized individuals.
- Assist with light clean-up and organization of program materials at the end of each day.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children in a school, parish, camp, childcare, or youth program setting preferred.
- Ability to maintain a safe and orderly environment with kindness, consistency, and professionalism.
- Practicing Christian supportive of the school’s Catholic mission; Catholic preferred.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Preferred
- Some college coursework or training in education, child development, or a related field.
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Familiarity with classical education or willingness to be trained in the school’s approach.

Schedule & Physical Demands
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:15 PM–5:30 PM; hours may vary for half-days, early dismissals, or special events.
- Requires active supervision of children indoors and outdoors, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
