Description
  • Adherent to all policies, procedures, rules, quality and customer service standards set forth by the company
  • Identify safety hazards in the workplace and report them to management
  • Comply to all safety guidelines put into place by MI Metals
  • Ensures that Machine that is being operated is in a safe working order
  • Uses walking beams to bring the metal across the table after it has been extruded
  • Check the temperature of the metal to ensure hot metal is not being stretched
  • Places metal into stretcher jaws 
  • Inspect the metal with a measuring device to determine how the metal must be stretched
  • Stretches the metal with appropriate tools and equipment, and inspects to ensure a proper stretch has been performed and metal is straight
  • Remove the metal from the stretcher jaws and place onto next set of walking arms/belts that lead to the saw 
  •  Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices and report unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor immediately
  • Monitor equipment during operation to identify potential mechanical issues that could cause injury, equipment damage, or product defects.

  • Standing and walking for the majority of the shift
  • Frequent use of hands for handling, gripping, and operating controls
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

Lifting requirements:

  • Up to 50 pounds independently
  • Up to 100 pounds with assistance or team lift
  • Ability to hear, speak, and see clearly, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Work Environment:

This position is performed in a manufacturing environment that includes:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
  • Exposure to vibration
  • exposure to heat, humidity, or cold - depending upon outdoor weather conditions
  • Potential risk of electrical shock

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

The following PPE is required while performing this job:

  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection (ear plugs)
  • Gloves
  • Long pants
  • Steel-toed shoes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate industrial equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime, including weekends, as required
