Job Title: Commercial Sales Specialist
Location: Haslett, Michigan (Hybrid)

Reports To: Managing Director, Insurance Operations
Why This Role Matters
CG Financial Services is growing its insurance division, and new commercial business is the engine behind that growth. This role owns the hunt: building a pipeline from scratch, opening doors with new prospects, and converting relationships into placed accounts. The producer's success expands the firm's footprint across Michigan and creates the client base that our service and account management teams build on for years to come.
Core Responsibilities
- Prospect and generate new commercial lines business through cold outreach, networking, referral partnerships, and centers of influence such as CPAs, attorneys, and financial advisors.
- Build and manage a pipeline of qualified commercial prospects, tracking activity, follow-up, and conversion at each stage.
- Assess commercial risk exposures and design coverage packages across property, casualty, workers' compensation, auto, and specialty lines.
- Develop and execute a territory or vertical-specific business development plan with defined prospecting and activity targets.
- Partner with carrier underwriters to market accounts, negotiate terms, and secure competitive placements.
- Coordinate with the Service Team and Commercial Account Manager to hand off and onboard new accounts after the sale.
- Represent CG Financial Services at community, networking, and industry events to build brand visibility and referral sources.
- Identify Business Services opportunities, such as retirement plan services, for CG's Wealth Management Advisors.
- Meet or exceed new business production goals.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date pipeline and activity reporting for leadership review.
What Success Looks Like
- New business production consistently meets or exceeds quota.
- A referral network and COI base generates a steady, self-sustaining flow of qualified prospects.
- Pipeline data is current and accurate, giving leadership a reliable view of forecasted production.
- New accounts transition smoothly to the Service Team with minimal onboarding friction.
- Carrier relationships and negotiated placements result in competitive terms for clients.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Required
- 3+ years of commercial insurance sales experience with a demonstrated track record of new business production (a “hunter,” not a “farmer”).
- Active Property & Casualty producer license in Michigan, or the ability to obtain one promptly.
- Working knowledge of commercial coverage lines: BOP, general liability, commercial property, workers' compensation, commercial auto, umbrella, and specialty/E&O lines.
- Demonstrated ability to self-generate leads and build a referral network from scratch.
- Experience working in a CRM-driven sales process and reporting on pipeline metrics.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree.
- Industry designations such as CIC, CPCU, or CRIS.
