Description
The VP of Sales, Federal will serve as Fortem’s senior presence within the federal civilian space, operating as a trusted advisor to agency customers and a key contributor to corporate growth strategy. This role owns the full customer lifecycle across the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Justice (DOJ), and adjacent federal civilian agencies — from pipeline development and stakeholder engagement through program capture and post-award account management.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships across DHS, DOJ, CBP, USSS, FBI, and SLTT stakeholders, and other agencies as assigned
- Serve as the primary executive interface between Fortem and federal civilian agency decision-makers
- Represent Fortem at industry conferences, government events, and customer briefings (e.g., Border Security Expo, IACP, DHS S&T Days)
Business Development & Sales Execution
- Develop, own and manage the federal/civilian market with accountability for revenue and pipeline metrics
- Lead capture strategy for new contract vehicles, sole-source opportunities, and competitive procurements
- Advise leadership on strategic pursuits, teaming arrangements, and Sales/BD investments
- Identify and develop relationships with prime contractors and system integrators for teaming
- Drive RFI/RFP responses in coordination with Contracts, Engineering, and Sales/BD teams
Program Management Support
- Oversee successful post-award transition and program execution in partnership with program management staff
- Serve as the escalation point for customer satisfaction and contract performance issues
- Support DHS IDIQ, BPA, and GWAC vehicle utilization strategies across target accounts
- Track legislative and regulatory developments affecting C-UAS policy and procurement (e.g., EO 14305, One Big Beautiful Bill, SAFER SKIES Act)
Internal Collaboration
- Provide the SVP of Sales with regular pipeline and forecast updates
- Coordinate cross-functionally with internal departments and individual stakeholders
- Contribute to the annual sales plan, territory strategy, and government advisory board development
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive federal government or program related experience
- Deep understanding of federal procurement, FAR/DFARS, and contract vehicle landscape (IDIQs, OTAs, GWACs)
- Existing relationships within DHS components (CBP, USSS, USCG) and/or DOJ (FBI, USMS)
- Proven track record of managing and closing multi-million-dollar federal efforts or programs
- Strong executive presence with the ability to engage C-suite and SES-level government stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military, federal law enforcement, or DHS/DOJ agency background
- Experience with C-UAS, counter-drone, airspace security, or border surveillance technology
- Familiarity with SLTT law enforcement procurement and grant-funded acquisition pathways
- Experience with DHS S&T, S&T RFIs, and the DHS C-UAS market specifically
- Active clearance
