Job Summary:
The Local/Regional Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting oversized equipment, heavy loads, and other materials to customer and project locations throughout the region. This position may complete multiple loads each day and requires regular travel across Wyoming and surrounding states. The driver plans routes, inspects and secures equipment and loads, maintains accurate transportation records, communicates with operations and site personnel, and performs basic equipment maintenance as needed. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and timely customer service.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Haul multiple loads on a daily basis
- Deliver and pick up loads to the following states regularly: Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, and occasionally Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas
- Transport oversized equipment and heavy loads to various locations
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to minimize accidents and injuries
- Inspect equipment and loads to ensure that they are secure and properly loaded
- Plan routes and logistics to ensure timely and efficient transportation
- Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
- Keep accurate records of goods and materials transported
- Maintain and repair equipment as necessary
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A Commercial driver's license, air brakes, no restrictions
- Minimum of three years of verifiable heavy haul experience or five years of flatbed/step deck experience; over-dimensional/overweight experience preferred
- Experience operating class eight tactors with eighteen speed manual transmissions
- Excellent understanding of safety procedures and guidelines for operating a heavy haul truck
- Ability to operate a heavy haul truck with precision and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- English language fluency; reading, writing, and speaking
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work flexible hours if required
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
This position is on site, often in remote or rural areas. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.
Specific requirements include:
- Be able to sit, stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Location: Must live within 100 miles of Casper, Wyoming
