United to End Polluter Handouts, Campaign Director
Fully Remote • United to End Polluter Handouts
Description

The Partnership Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on supporting the collaborative efforts of the environmental community. Our programs focus on critical environmental issues including climate change, emissions reduction, and environmental and climate justice.

We provide fiscal sponsorship and organizational support to our programs, empowering them to undertake the vital work of preserving our planet. Guided by our core principles of Equity, Integrity, Service, and Innovation, we are committed to fostering a healthy environment - both within our workplace and in the broader world. Through these values, we strive to make a meaningful contribution to creating a sustainable and positive impact on our planet and an inclusive workplace where everyone can bring their full and authentic self to do this critical work.

United to End Polluter Handouts (UTEPH) is a national, coalition-driven campaign working at the intersection of climate, democracy, and economic justice. Led by a diverse alliance of consumer, tax, youth, climate, environmental justice, faith, cultural, and economic justice organizations, UTEPH’s mission is to end oil and gas subsidies at every level of government within the next decade. The campaign prioritizes building durable power, activating new partnerships across diverse movements, by addressing the social and economic impacts of oil and gas subsidies on communities, health, affordability and economic justice.

The United States sits at an inflection point. The oil and gas industry’s political and economic power is reshaping policy, weakening environmental protections, and driving decisions that worsen climate, public health, affordability, and democracy. Families are paying more for fuel, utilities, and everyday goods even as the industry secures record profits, outsized executive compensation, and continued public subsidies.

At the same time, climate, economic, and environmental justice movements are being forced onto the defensive, fighting to protect hard-won gains, stop new extraction and infrastructure, and defend the right to advocate. Public handouts to polluters offer a critical strategic opening: they expose a vulnerable and often hidden source of industry power, tap broad public frustration with corporate capture, and create opportunities to build durable, cross-movement power around accountability and the public good.

The Campaign Director will help turn this opening into sustained power by aligning partners, sharpening strategy, and driving campaigns that make polluter handouts increasingly difficult to sustain at the federal, state, and local levels. Over the next 2–3 years, this role will help translate complex tax and finance issues into compelling public narratives, coordinate cross-movement campaigns, and build the infrastructure needed to sustain momentum and drive results.

The coalition includes Center for Popular Democracy, Climate Democracy Initiative, Friends of the Earth, GoodPower, GreenFaith, Hip Hop Caucus, Oil Change International, Our Revolution, Public Citizen, Sierra Club, Sunrise Movement, Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund, The FACT Coalition, We Build Progress, and Zero Hour, among others.

Within this coalition context, the Campaign Director will provide the strategic leadership, coordination, and operational oversight needed to align partners and move the campaign forward.
