Chmura Economics & Analytics is seeking an Associate Economic Consultant to join our Consulting team. This early-career role supports economic and labor market research, quantitative analysis, economic modeling, and the development of client-facing reports and presentations.


The Associate Economist will work alongside experienced economists and consultants to analyze complex economic issues and translate research findings into clear, actionable insights for clients. This position offers the opportunity to develop foundational consulting, analytical, and communication skills while gaining experience with Chmura’s methodologies, forecasting tools, economic models, and software products.


Work is performed under the guidance of senior economists, with regular coaching, feedback, and opportunities for professional development.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Economic Research and Analysis

  • Research local, regional, and national economic and labor market issues.
  • Collect, organize, validate, and analyze quantitative data from multiple sources.
  • Support the development and application of economic and statistical models.
  • Assist with economic forecasts, statistical analyses, and impact studies.
  • Conduct background research to support consulting recommendations and strategic initiatives.
  • Interpret research findings and summarize key insights for senior economists and project teams.
  • Learn and apply Chmura’s consulting methodologies, analytical tools, and quality standards.

Consulting and Project Support

  • Support project teams in developing client reports, presentations, and other consulting deliverables.
  • Draft sections of client reports and supporting materials for review.
  • Create charts, tables, data visualizations, and presentation materials.
  • Assist project managers with timelines, research assignments, and client deliverables.
  • Participate in client meetings alongside senior economists and consultants.
  • Support research and preparation for proposals and new consulting opportunities.
  • Assist with drafting Statements of Work and other project documentation.
  • Contribute to accurate, timely, and high-quality client deliverables.

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Develop proficiency with statistical software, data visualization tools, and consulting techniques.
  • Build expertise in Chmura’s software and analytical tools.
  • Support senior economists with research initiatives and internal projects.
  • Develop professional writing, presentation, consulting, and client communication skills.
  • Incorporate feedback and apply lessons learned to future assignments.

Requirements


  • Master’s degree in Economics or a related quantitative field.
  • Up to two years of relevant professional, academic, internship, or research experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of economics, statistics, quantitative analysis, and research methods.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and analyze large or complex datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software, methodologies, and analytical techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting economic, labor market, workforce, demographic, or public policy research.
  • Experience using statistical software or programming languages such as R, Python, Stata, SAS, or similar tools.
  • Experience creating data visualizations, reports, or presentations for nontechnical audiences.
  • Previous consulting, research assistantship, internship, or client-facing experience.
  • Familiarity with economic forecasting, econometrics, or economic impact analysis.
