Requirements

What You'll Do 

  • Serve as the primary building substitute and floater, maintaining the flexibility and readiness to step into and cover any K-8 classroom at a moment's notice.
  • Work side by side with the Teacher to function as an appropriate role model for children, providing proper examples, emotional support, and general guidance.
  • Provide full classroom coverage and instructional continuity for all K-8 grades upon the Director's request.
  • Assist in classroom management and maintain established classroom routines.
  • Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and maintain data and progress monitoring for assigned students.
  • Implement, under the supervision of the assigned teacher or independently during coverage, instructional programs and lesson plans to help students achieve academic success.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts and help students reach grade-level standards.
  • Use computers and other technology provided by the company to support students in their learning.
  • Ensure an orderly, motivational, and aspirational culture and support the school's PBIS Program.
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classrooms and assist teachers with administrative records, data, and required reports.

What You'll Need 

  • Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to float between different grade levels (K-8) and subject areas daily.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 1–2 years' experience working with students preferred; certification/licensure in an appropriate teaching area and Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status are a plus.
  • A passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students and building a strong, mission-driven organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven effective classroom instructional and management skills across multiple grade bands.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology.
