The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across a portfolio of hotel properties. This position is responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, month-end close processes, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and accounting analysis while serving as a key partner to hotel operations and corporate leadership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close Process

· Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.

· Prepare, review, and post journal entries.

· Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.

· Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reports.

· Ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered within established deadlines.

· Analyze financial results and investigate variances.

Hotel Accounting Operations

· Perform and review daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations, including:

o Bank accounts

o Accounts receivable

o Occupancy tax schedules

o Revenue and sales reporting

o Balance sheet accounts

· Support accounting functions for multiple hotel properties and ownership groups.

· Work closely with hotel leadership to resolve accounting issues and improve financial accuracy.

· Serve as a primary accounting contact for hotel operations teams.

Treasury, Compliance & Controls

· Support tax reporting and ensure compliance with state and local regulations. 

· Maintain tax reporting systems (Avalara) to report and remit timely tax filings.

· Help maintain and strengthen accounting controls, policies, and procedures.

· Participate in internal and external audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.

· Maintain compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Systems & Process Improvement

· Assist with accounting system administration, maintenance, and process enhancements.

· Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, automate processes, and strengthen reporting capabilities.

· Support special projects, acquisitions, transitions, and other strategic initiatives.

· Contribute to the ongoing development of accounting policies and best practices.

· Experience with hospitality accounting systems such as Sage, ProfitSword, Avalara or similar platforms preferred.


Education & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

· Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, multi-entity, or corporate accounting environments.

· Hotel accounting experience preferred.

· Experience with financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and month-end close processes required.
