Description
Essential Functions
- Supervise Accounting staff.
- Oversee all Corporate Bank Accounts including the transfer of funds between bank accounts, approving of check requests and signing of check requests and checks.
- Assist in preparation of budgets including the entering of budget data for Corporation, Land Projects, Rental Properties and Grants/Contracts.
- Review and approve payroll register, payroll fringe, vacation, SUI and FICA worksheets. Supervise the preparation of W-2’s and 1099’s for Corporation and Rental Properties.
- Coordinate purchasing, inventory and payment systems as well as prepare and submit Personal Property Tax
- Enter data for and submit cash flow worksheet to the CFO.
- Monitor and analyze indirect costs and prepare Indirect Cost Proposal.
- In conjunction with the CFO, supervise and maintain Corporation’s internal control systems.
- Maintain understanding of current fiscal regulations of applicable Federal, State and local programs, and under the direction of the CFO, prepare required reports for submittal to appropriate agencies.
- Review and evaluate accounting software systems and make recommendations for updating the Corporate systems.
- Review and update current status of pension investments and ensure accurate pension contributions.
- Provide coordination for annual corporate audits including selection of auditors, preparation for audit and assistance as needed to the auditors during audit.
- Review and approve Working Trial Balance for Grants/Contracts and Land accounts, Grant/Contract Activity reports as well as prepare Adjusting Journal Entries for quarterly reconciliation of all accounts.
- In conjunction with the CFO manage corporate funds to maximize leveraging and earnings.
- Utilize computer to perform above duties as required by Fiscal Department systems.
- As directed, attend various Corporate meetings, including Board of Directors’, Finance Committee and annual meeting.
- Attend appropriate seminars and other training sessions for the purpose of updating knowledge of accounting systems.
Requirements
Skill & Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to analyze data with successful results.
- Familiarity with Federal GAAP accounting principles.
- Familiarity with non-profit and cost accounting.
- Ability to work effectively as a representative of PSHHC and the Executive Director to government agencies and the general public.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to get along with fellow workers.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of three years management experience in a comparable environment.
- Experience in and general knowledge of, personal computers with a high level of proficiency using Excel, Word, MAS90 or equivalent accounting Software.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Business or Accounting.
License/Certification Requirements
- CPA license preferred.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license, automobile liability insurance and have access to a reliable vehicle.
