NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Financial Specialist. The Financial Specialist shall provide mission-critical financial management support directly aligned to Information Technology (IT) program execution, system sustainment, and digital modernization initiatives. This role ensures fiscal accountability, cost transparency, and regulatory compliance for IT investments, including infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity tools, software licensing, and system development efforts. The contractor shall support budget formulation, execution tracking, contract funding alignment, capital planning, and audit readiness activities specific to IT portfolios. By integrating financial oversight with technical program requirements, this position enables accurate forecasting, lifecycle cost management, performance measurement, and alignment of IT resources to operational priorities and compliance mandates (e.g., cybersecurity, cloud optimization, and system sustainment requirements).
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support in budget formulation, execution tracking, and financial analysis in support of IT programs, system sustainment, and technology modernization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain spend plans aligned with IT project schedules, acquisition milestones, and contract funding allocations.
- Track and reconcile obligations, expenditures, and accruals for hardware, software, cloud services, cybersecurity tools, and IT service contracts.
- Support lifecycle cost analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO) assessments, and cost-benefit evaluations for IT investments.
- Coordinate with Program Managers, CORs, Contracting Officers, and technical leads to ensure funding alignment with IT deliverables and performance objectives.
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and briefings reflecting IT portfolio execution status, burn rates, and funding gaps.
- Ensure compliance with federal financial regulations, audit requirements, and internal controls applicable to IT systems and contracts.
- Support audit readiness by providing documentation and traceability of IT expenditures, system funding sources, and contract modifications.
- Assist in capital planning and investment control (CPIC) processes related to IT systems and infrastructure.
- Provide financial impact analysis for IT change requests, system upgrades, cybersecurity enhancements, and cloud migration efforts.
- Utilize government-provided financial management systems (e.g., GFEBS, DTS) to process, record, and reconcile financial transactions, including purchase requests and travel orders.
- Assist in the preparation of Unfunded Requirements (UFRs) and reprogramming requests by gathering and validating supporting data.
- Support the end-of-year closeout process by ensuring all financial actions are completed, documented, and reconciled in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance to command staff in resolving routine financial inquiries and ensuring adherence to Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and other financial policies.

Desired/Required Skills:
- Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance required.
- 3+ years of experience
