As a Public Relations Game Night Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the Detroit Pistons Communications team during home games throughout the 2026-27 NBA season, including playoffs. From assisting media members to supporting postgame press conferences, you'll play an important role behind the scenes while learning what it takes to execute NBA game-night communications.
This internship runs October 2026 through the conclusion of the 2026-27 NBA season (including playoffs) and is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to launch a career in sports communications, public relations, or media relations.
What You'll Do
- Assist with game-day media operations before, during, and after Detroit Pistons home games.
- Prepare and maintain the media workroom and press workspaces.
- Support in-game public relations initiatives and postgame media responsibilities.
- Distribute and manage media credentials.
- Provide media members with real-time statistics, game notes, and other supporting information.
- Transcribe coach and player interviews following games and media availability.
- Assist the Communications team with additional game-night responsibilities as assigned.
- Available to work all Detroit Pistons home games throughout the entire 2026-27 season, including potential playoff games.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree (Junior or Senior standing preferred) or a recent graduate within the past six months.
- Pursuing or interested in a career in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sports Media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Organized, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the NBA schedule.
- Reliable transportation to and from Little Caesars Arena.
- Able to secure and provide their own housing for the duration of the internship.
