Summary
The Assistant DC Manager serves as the second in command for Randys’ Grand Prairie distribution operation. This role is responsible for translating plans into execution by overseeing daily warehouse, fulfillment, planning, and production support activities while ensuring safety, accuracy, productivity, and service commitments are met.
As the Distribution Center Manager’s Assistant primary support, this role acts as a hands on leader across all departments, ensures operational discipline, develops frontline leaders, and provides continuity of leadership. The Assistant DC Manager is expected to step in as acting site leader when needed and play a key role in stabilizing, standardizing, and improving operations following site consolidation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Daily Operations Execution
- Oversee day to day execution across receiving, inventory control, kitting/assembly, shipping, returns, and transfers.
- Execute daily operational plans including order prioritization, labor deployment, and workflow sequencing.
- Monitor order flow, kitting orders, and shipment readiness to ensure on time fulfillment.
- Actively manage floor execution, resolve issues in real time, and remove barriers to productivity.
Planning & Coordination Support
- Partner with the Distribution Center Manager and DC Planning team to execute inventory balancing, internal transfers, and build plans.
- Support order waving, system transactions, and coordination with transportation providers as needed.
- Expedite priority orders and address shortages, system exceptions, and execution gaps.
Inventory, Systems & Process Discipline
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation, discrepancy investigation, and corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate ERP and WMS transactions for receipts, transfers, production, and shipments.
- Enforce adherence to standard work, operating procedures, and system processes.
- Support WMS/ERP enhancements, testing, training, and process rollouts.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and support, leads, planners, and hourly associates.
- Reinforce expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
- Serve as a visible, approachable leader on the floor.
- Act as acting site leader in the absence of the Distribution Center Manager.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Actively enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
- Conduct safety observations, audits, and corrective actions.
- Partner with Quality to identify, communicate, and resolve process or quality issues.
- Support audit readiness and compliance activities.
Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
- Track and communicate daily operational KPIs including throughput, labor efficiency, order accuracy, and on time shipping.
- Identify execution gaps, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead and support continuous improvement efforts using standard work, visual management, and structured problem solving.
- Help document and sustain improved processes.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing, Transportation, IT, HR, Quality, and Finance teams to support operational alignment.
- Communicate capacity constraints, execution risks, and performance updates to leadership.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 4–7 years of experience in distribution, warehouse, or fulfillment operations.
- 1–3 years of experience leading supervisors, leads, or teams in a high volume environment.
- Experience supporting production, kitting, or light manufacturing operations preferred.
Knowledge & Personal Attributes
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and fulfillment processes.
- Experience using ERP, WMS, and reporting tools.
- Hands on, floor oriented leader who drives execution through presence and accountability.
