Digital Consultants seeks one Senior Network Administrator to provide on-site Tier III network, server, virtualization, and data center support to the Naval Medical Leader and Professional Development Command (NMLPDC). The role focuses on maintaining greater than 99.9% network availability, leading data center operations, administering physical and virtual infrastructure, resolving complex escalated issues, and providing technical leadership in a secure Department of Defense environment.
Duties to include:
- Manage equipment and software applications within the NMLPDC Data Center and provide senior-level technical leadership for daily operations.
- Maintain and improve network and server capabilities to support greater than 99.9% availability for users and connected equipment.
- Perform system administration, data recovery, software installation, patching, security updates, procedure development, and technical troubleshooting.
- Support storage hosted on physical and virtual systems, including EMC Storage Area Networks and EMC storage devices.
- Administer the virtual environment and install, configure, and support virtual servers and workstations.
- Use VMware vCenter Server, cloning practices, and vMotion to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve availability of virtual resources.
- Provide Tier III user administration, enterprise application support, and help desk support for incidents escalated from Tier I and Tier II personnel.
- Provide full technical support to local and remote users and coordinate with Helpdesk Technicians, the Junior Network Administrator, Mac Engineers, and Government personnel.
- Assist Government personnel with maintenance of the overall network infrastructure and resolution of complex network, server, and data center issues.
- Report and document security incidents to the Contracting Officer’s Representative by the end of the day in which the incident is identified.
- Develop and maintain accurate system, configuration, recovery, patching, security, and operating procedures and provide guidance to junior technical staff.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise network, server, storage, virtualization, and data center operations.
- Demonstrated Tier III troubleshooting skills for complex user, enterprise application, server, storage, virtualization, and network issues.
- Hands-on experience with VMware vCenter Server, virtual servers and workstations, cloning practices, and vMotion.
- Knowledge of system administration, data recovery, software installation, patch management, security updates, and high-availability operations.
- Strong technical leadership, procedure-development, documentation, customer-service, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize mission-critical issues, support local and remote users, mentor junior staff, and coordinate effectively with Government personnel.
- Clearance: NAC suitability required for all contractor staff; CAC eligible.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent certification required before accessing the network.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering; four additional years of relevant experience may substitute
- Experience: Minimum eight (8) years of recent experience administering enterprise Microsoft server, virtualization, network, and storage environments. Experience configuring and maintaining Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, enterprise networking equipment, patch management, backup and recovery, and Tier III troubleshooting. Experience supporting highly available enterprise IT environments and leading technical resolution of complex infrastructure issues, including SAN administration on EMC or equivalent enterprise storage platforms.
- Physical Requirements: The candidate must be able to travel to other worksites as required and, with or without reasonable accommodation, sit, stand, use computers and monitors, and perform duties in an office and data center environment for extended periods. The candidate must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion, such as moving computers, servers, network equipment, storage devices, or a case of paper.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $128,000 – 156,000 depending upon experience.
