Position Summary
Menlo is seeking an Installation Technician to join our Professional Services team supporting K-12 school districts and municipal customers. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting a variety of technology solutions, including network equipment, low-voltage cabling, security systems, and door access control systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with customers to successfully complete technology projects.
Job Description
The Installation Technician will perform on-site installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of technology systems. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, and customers to ensure installations are completed accurately, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test networking equipment, including switches, wireless access points, and related hardware.
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including CAT6 and fiber.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot electronic door access control systems, including card readers, door controllers, electronic locks, and related components.
- Install and support security technology, including IP cameras and related systems.
- Rack, mount, and cable IT equipment, including network hardware and other technology systems.
- Perform equipment replacements, upgrades, and technology refresh projects.
- Read and interpret floor plans, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure systems are functioning properly.
- Document completed work, including installation details, equipment information, and project updates.
- Maintain a professional presence while working at customer locations.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Travel to customer sites as needed.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of low-voltage installations and IT infrastructure.
- Experience with electronic door access control systems and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation practices.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, switches, and wireless networks.
- Ability to read technical drawings, diagrams, and documentation.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience in IT installations, low-voltage systems, structured cabling, or related technical field preferred.
- Experience with K-12 environments, managed service providers (MSPs), or customer-facing technology projects preferred.
- Experience with door access control systems, security systems, or related technologies preferred.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, or manufacturer-specific certifications are a plus.
