About the Role

The Field Services Technician II performs onsite technical work at client locations, including hardware installations, network infrastructure deployments, equipment refreshes, and break/fix support that cannot be resolved remotely. This role is often the primary in-person representative of the company for client end users.

Key Responsibilities


Field Execution

  • Perform onsite technical work including: 
    • Hardware installations 
    • Workstation deployments 
    • Network equipment rack-and-stack 
    • Cabling and peripheral setup 
  • Execute equipment refreshes and technology rollouts following project plans and deployment checklists 
  • Provide break/fix support for hardware and connectivity issues requiring physical presence 
  • Document all onsite work, including: 
    • As-built records 
    • Serial numbers 
    • Configuration details 

Operational Discipline

  • Maintain accurate time entries for all field engagements 
  • Follow project plans and deployment checklists without deviation 
  • Arrive fully prepared with required equipment, documentation, and access credentials

Work Environment & Travel

  • Field-based role requiring regular travel to client sites 
  • Standard business hours with flexibility based on project and client needs 
  • Travel requirement: Approximately 50–80% annually 

Qualifications


Required

  • 1+ years of experience in: 
    • IT field services 
    • Desktop support 
    • Hands-on technical roles involving hardware deployment and onsite troubleshooting 
  • Working knowledge of: 
    • Hardware installation 
    • Workstation configuration 
    • Basic networking (cabling, switches, access points) 
    • Peripheral setup 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple site visits 
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the company at client locations 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 

Preferred

  • Experience in a managed services (MSP) environment 
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certifications 
  • Experience with: 
    • Rack-and-stack installations 
    • Structured cabling 
    • Network infrastructure deployment 
  • Familiarity with PSA and documentation platforms 

Compliance & Certifications

  • Willingness to obtain and maintain required certifications based on client environments 
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as: 
    • CJIS Security Awareness Certification 
    • CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification)
