Primary Function:
The Warehouse Team Lead plays a critical role in driving day-to-day material operations, ensuring the team meets its goals for timely, accurate, and organized inventory handling. This individual is responsible for directly training warehouse associates, monitoring daily tasks, and inspiring a culture of teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence through effective leadership and hands-on support.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
· Lead and motivate warehouse personnel to achieve performance targets and quality standards.
· Provide clear direction and follow-up on daily assignments, ensuring accountability and productivity.
· Train and coach team members on work instructions, safety practices, and efficient inventory handling.
· Act as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Inventory Control & Process Execution
· Ensure accuracy of inventory transactions through the ERP system (Macola preferred), in a timely manner.
· Assist in daily cycle counts, reconciliations, and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy goals.
· Monitor kitting, receiving, stocking, and shipping to ensure timely and correct material movement.
· Maintain material storage integrity by enforcing labeling and location protocols.
Operational Excellence & 6S Implementation
· Champion 6S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety) on the warehouse floor.
· Support SQCD (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery) initiatives and suggest improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
· Collaborate with the Stores Supervisor and cross-functional departments to enhance flow and reduce errors.
Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Serve as the liaison between warehouse associates and the Stores Supervisor.
· Assist with routing of deliveries and pickups using company vehicles.
· Provide feedback and suggestions for process, equipment, and training improvements.
Compliance & Safety
· Ensure team adherence to all safety policies and PPE requirements.
· Identify potential safety issues and take proactive steps to mitigate risks.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Proven experience in warehouse, inventory, or materials handling roles.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, and inspire a team.
· Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory software (Macola preferred).
· Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows OS skills.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and navigate shop floor environments.
Preferred: - Experience in electronic manufacturing or high-mix production environments. - Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean methodologies. - Forklift certification (if applicable).
Work Environment:
· Blend of office and warehouse settings.
· Exposure to airborne particles, mechanical equipment, and material handling vehicles. PPE required.
