HVAC Technician

Boar's Head Resort is seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Technician to join our Engineering team. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems throughout the resort. The HVAC Technician plays a key role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and exceptional environment for our guests, members, and team members by maintaining the highest standards of facility performance and reliability.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service in a hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on chillers, boilers, cooling towers, rooftop units, air handlers, fan coil units, split systems, exhaust systems, pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) to optimize system performance and energy efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to guest room and facility maintenance requests related to HVAC systems.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain refrigeration equipment serving restaurants, kitchens, bars, and banquet operations.
  • Replace motors, compressors, belts, bearings, filters, valves, thermostats, sensors, and other HVAC components as needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, fire/life safety standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Complete work orders accurately using the resort's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist with general building maintenance projects as assigned, including basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors during equipment installations, inspections, and major repairs.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • There is evidence that all associates are empowered by management to resolve guest issues immediately.

  • All associates are appropriately attired; including a name tag.
  • All associates demonstrate appropriate behavior and hygiene.



Requirements

Essential:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in HVAC is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, electrical controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a hotel, resort, university, healthcare, or large commercial facility.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and commercial refrigeration.
  • HVAC Journeyman license or equivalent trade certification preferred.
