Description
Our Medical Oncology office is currently looking for a team-oriented full-time Medical Assistant. This candidate will be part of a dynamic team to support our specialty practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include any and or all the following: Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.
- Prepares follow up patients for their visit by escorting them to the exam room and recording patient data, including but not limited to vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Prepares patients charts prior to their appointments, ensuring all results from scheduled lab, imaging, and/or referral dictation is available in EMR.
- Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Obtain medical records as directed by clinic providers and RN; scan documentation into EMR.
· Fax medical records to referring providers office, as directed by clinic providers and RN.
- Ensure that all imaging is in PACs system at UTMCK for review by physician if performed at outside facility for all patients.
- Answers phone and gather minimal information for RN to return call. Minimal information includes but not limited to patient name, returning phone number, nature of call, and pharmacy number or other pertinent information.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments- lab appointments, return physician appointments, etc.
- Complete FMLA forms as directed by providers.
- Communicate/ Call patients regarding upcoming appointments.
- Scan all outside medical records into EMR.
- Inventory clinic supplies on a regular basis maintaining adequate supply for efficient patient flow
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing, standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
- Performs other duties assigned by clinic providers, clinic RNs, and program supervisor.
