Medical Office Receptionist
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medical Office Receptionist, where your organizational skills and compassionate approach will contribute to providing exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy and completeness
- Check patients' credit status and review all notes on accounts to ensure proper documentation
- Collect co-pays and payments for office visits, laboratory services, and other procedures
- Balance the cash drawer accurately at the end of each shift
- Print fee tickets and direct patients to the appropriate waiting areas
- Collect additional payments as directed by healthcare providers
- Schedule and confirm appointments for all physicians and nurse practitioners
- Schedule return visits and follow-up appointments
- Issue work or school excuses as needed
- Type and prepare statements, letters, and other correspondence
- Work hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or until relieved, with one late evening shift per week and a rotation of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM shifts
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned, supporting the smooth operation of the practice
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend medical and administrative documents
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of all units of measure
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with the public
- Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, or crouch as needed
- Ability to talk and hear clearly to interact with patients and staff
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred
- Proficiency with computers and medical scheduling software
