As the mission support arm of the Summit Point Training Facility, SSG delivers specialized services that help ensure complex government training operations run safely and effectively. SSG is proud to support the Training Operational Medicine FASTC Emergency Services Contract in Blackstone, VA, delivering trusted on-site emergency medical and response services in support of critical federal training missions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Site Lead is responsible for providing on-site leadership, coordination, and direction for EMS personnel. This role serves as the primary liaison between contractor teams and the Operational Medicine Unit, ensuring consistent communication, operational alignment, and technical compliance across all site operations. The Site Lead ensures that EMS services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with contract requirements and client expectations.
Position Details

- Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt, Salaried
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day direction and oversight to EMS contractor personnel.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all communications, work coordination, and technical direction between the Contractor and the Government’s Operational Medicine Unit.
- Consult with client representatives regarding performance, personnel assignments, and scheduling needs.
- Ensure that staff certifications, training, and operational readiness are compliant with all applicable standards and requirements.
- Coordinate EMS operational planning and execution to meet site-specific needs and priorities.
- Support the continuous improvement of EMS protocols, safety procedures, and response capabilities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to personnel, operations, incidents, and performance metrics.
- Lead and mentor EMS staff to ensure high standards of professionalism, patient care, and operational effectiveness.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements:
Certifications (Current and Valid):
- Virginia Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
- Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC) Level 2 or higher
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in pre-hospital emergency medical services.
Education & Leadership Experience:
In addition to the minimum qualifications above, applicants must meet one of the following education and leadership experience pathways to be considered:
Qualification Pathway 1
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; and
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in EMS or related emergency services.
OR
Qualification Pathway 2
- Associate's degree; and
- Minimum of 10 years of experience at the Captain level or higher (or an equivalent leadership position) managing EMS and/or Fire Suppression programs of comparable size and scope.
Required Skills and Attributes:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to coordinate across departments and agencies
- Demonstrated knowledge of EMS protocols, emergency response planning, and patient care standards
- Ability to manage complex logistics, personnel, and conflict resolution in dynamic environments
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
- Ability to lift, move, and assist patients and medical equipment as required
- May require occasional travel and/or shift work based on operational needs
