Truck Driver - Local
Description

  

Position Summary: Responsible for transporting and delivering materials from company headquarters to other designated locations in accordance with DOT regulations. Responsible for assistance with a variety of duties in the Shipping & Receiving Department including packing and inspecting parts, staging pallets and maintaining department cleanliness/organization. This position is responsible for proper loading and securing of materials, verifying proper paperwork, performing daily vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.


  

  • Securely load materials to prevent movement and allow for safe transport.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials loaded and unloaded. 
  • Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance before, during, and after trips; responsible for ensuring  working condition of brakes, lights, wipers, windshield, fire extinguisher, and flares.
  • Responsible for overall maintenance and regular servicing of vehicle; fuel and oil levels should be checked daily,    interior/exterior should be cleaned regularly.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations such as      heavy traffic. Driver must be able to operate vehicle in all types of weather conditions.
  • Maintain an accurate log of activities, condition of the vehicle, and any cases of accidents.
  • Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, traffic conditions or other emergencies.
  • Turn in all record of deliveries, receipts, payments, mechanical problems, etc.
  • Responsible for assisting in the general shipping and receiving operations.
  • Assist with packaging and sorting parts as needed.
  • Assist with departmental organization and cleaning as needed.
Requirements


  • Experience effectively operating a large vehicle on large highways and traffic routes.
  • Chauffeur's License Required
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Ability to operate forklift (will train the right candidate).
  • Employee must demonstrate effective communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to multitask and work in a production environment.
  • Team player – must be willing to perform departmental assistance duties in addition to deliveries.
