Description

Chicago Venture Partners (CVP) is looking for IT mavericks with strong critical-thinking skills to help develop complex internal technical solutions. As an intern, you’ll collaborate with team members and peers, learn from experienced IT leaders -- gaining hands-on experience solving real-world business challenges.


We're looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer Intern to join our team. You’ll work in a fast-paced, creative environment, collaborating with our teams to enhance existing applications and develop greenfield projects. If you're a self-starter who enjoys tackling complex problems with innovative solutions, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to dynamic projects across multiple industries supported by our IT department.


Major Job Responsibilities, Functions, and Duties:

  • Learn and understand our business needs and user requirements to assist in building fully implemented solutions.
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of software solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks such as React, Django, Oracle APEX, GatsbyJS, Node.js, and Flask.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following internal coding standards and best practices.
  • Develop web applications using data from internal Product Information Management (PIM) and Oracle Databases.
  • Create unit and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and code reviews as part of an Agile development team.
  • Consume third-party API data and creating internal APIs using Node.js and Oracle ORDS
Requirements

General Job Requirements:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong command of Python, JavaScript, and other languages.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar. 
  • Familiarity with managing data using SQL, PL/SQL, GraphQL, and JSON.
  • Proficient understanding of Git.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to demonstrate work and concepts in technical and non-technical ways.
  • Willingness to respond to feedback and direction from mentors and senior developers to learn and grow.
  • Willingness to take initiative and dive deep into complex problems.


Physical Job Requirements:

  • Able to work in the headquarters office located in Chicago, IL.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position, either sitting or standing, for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to move about the office to access common equipment such as filing cabinets, copier, printer, etc.
Salary Description
$25-45 per hour
