JOB SUMMARY: Repairs and maintains through corrective and preventative maintenance, hospital buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure safe and effective operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors, inspects, and ensures the safe and efficient function and operation of all buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds.
- Operates, maintains, and tests boilers.
- Observes, tests, and logs data related to various meters, generators, and gauges.
- Performs safety tests on electrical lighting, emergency generators, alarm systems, communication systems, medical equipment and HVAC system and takes appropriate action for safe operation.
- Keeps record of all the hospital systems, schedules and preventative maintenance as needed.
- Performs regular inspections of equipment in accordance with preventative maintenance schedule.
- Performs repairs on any equipment for building and grounds.
- Analyzes repairs as required, follows appropriate safety procedures and initiates repairs.
- Performs regular inspections of equipment in accordance with preventative maintenance schedule.
- Repairs/replaces equipment and parts or work with outside contractor (if necessary to accomplish).
- Repairs plumbing, Electrical, HVAC problems as necessary.
- Maintains the physical plant, grounds, and equipment of the hospital.
- Works with outside vendors and contractors if necessary to ensure a successful project.
- Ensures safe access to the hospital and facility grounds.
- Performs basic grounds maintenance.
- Removes snow, mows, does yard work, and paints.
- Checks on chillers and HVAC units.
- Responds to work orders and various requests to maintain an efficient and effective workplace.
- Completes work orders as assigned in a timely manner.
- Empties biohazard container in X-Ray weekly. Takes out biohazard boxes to garage for storage and pick up tags accordingly.
- Paints patient rooms, completes special projects and new construction as necessary.
- Helps set up rooms for meetings.
- Presents self in a professional manner. Enhances professional growth and development through educational opportunities relevant to the job, as well as reading and/or contributing to current literature.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and correctly interpret manufacturer's specifications for the proper operation and preventive maintenance of equipment, which is used within the facility
- Knowledge of all areas carpentry, plumbing, electricity, electronics, etc.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
