As part of our Product Quality Engineering team, you’ll be deeply involved in testing and validating innovative in-house and third-party hardware and software solutions. Core Responsibilities
- Execute and maintain comprehensive test plans for smart home devices and related software applications.
- Ensure product and service quality through incoming quality control (IQC) inspections and adherence to established QA best practices.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to align quality control plans with evolving manufacturing processes.
- Partner with hardware and software development teams to validate new designs and support certification testing.
- Analyze and troubleshoot hardware/software issues; document findings and manage the end-to-end defect reporting lifecycle.
- Log and debug devices using various wireless protocols, including Z-Wave, Matter, 4G/5G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and tools using Python and Robot Framework to improve test coverage and reporting efficiency.

Role Boundaries & Interfaces
- Internal Interfaces: Product Quality Engineering Manager, Hardware/Software Development, Manufacturing, and Production teams.
- External Interfaces: Third-party hardware vendors and certification bodies.
- Decision-Making Authority: Independently identifies and documents critical defects; collaborates with management on quality control plan revisions and automated tool architecture.
- Escalation Points: Recurring manufacturing quality trends or high-priority blockers in the automated test suite should be escalated to the Product Quality Engineering Manager.
Success Metrics / KPIs
- Test Coverage: Continuous improvement and expansion of automated test scripts for new and existing hardware.
- Defect Detection: Efficiency and accuracy in identifying hardware/software issues prior to product release.
- Documentation Quality: Precision and clarity in troubleshooting logs and defect reports that facilitate quick resolution by development teams.
- Protocol Mastery: Successful debugging and monitoring across the full spectrum of supported wireless protocols.
- Automated Efficiency: Quantifiable reduction in manual testing hours through the implementation of automated tools.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (Preferred)
- Working experience with Python and Robot Framework.
- Proven experience working with smart devices in a Linux OS environment.
- Ability to methodically analyze and troubleshoot complex issues within consumer device products.
- Proven ability to multitask effectively and work both independently and as part of a team; strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in productivity software suites (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with the specific nuances of IoT, Home Security, or Smart Home Monitoring technology.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment managing hardware/software validation from concept to launch.
- Interest in advancing automated reporting efficiency and result accuracy.

For applicants located in California, the expected base salary range for this full-time role is $75,000-$85,000 per year. Final compensation offered within this range depends on factors such as candidate experience, skills, location, and relevant qualifications. This range reflects base salary only and does not include total compensation (e.g., benefits, bonuses, or equity). Salary ranges may vary for candidates located outside of California.
